As the days grow shorter and the weather turns cold, Lake Tahoe transforms into a snow lovers paradise with a myriad of fun activities. Why not get out with the family to enjoy the crisp air and the freshly fallen snow? Read on for more information on some activities for Lake Tahoe winter family fun.

.Planet Kids at Soda Springs

Soda Springs Resort’s snow playground for kids is a great place to teach kids how to ski and is one of our favorite locations for Lake Tahoe winter family fun. One of the great reasons to teach your kids to ski at Planet Kids is that they use a carpet to tow them to the top of the hill. This means there are no ropes for your kids to try to awkwardly hold while keeping control of their poles. They also have a tube carousel for younger kids that makes use of snow tubes instead of the traditional animals. There are also areas for snow angel making and snowman building as well as general snow play. The kids are sure to love this resort and for the older kids, Soda Springs is a fully functional ski resort with all the amenities you would expect.

Adventure Mountain

Located in South Lake Tahoe at the top of Echo Summit, Adventure Mountain is one of the premier destinations for Lake Tahoe winter family fun. This snow playground features groomed sledding runs along with tube and sled rentals so there is no need to bring any equipment with you. There are also designated areas for snow play if your kids just want to run around and enjoy the snow, build a fort, or play a game in the snow. If you prefer to be a bit more adventurous, they also offer snowshoe rentals so you and your family can take some of the trails they have set up around the summit for a pleasant outing together.

Heli-Vertex

For a Lake Tahoe winter family fun experience that is truly unique, consider booking a helicopter tour for you and your family through Heli-Vertex. Operating year-round out of both North and South Lake Tahoe, they have every area of Lake Tahoe covered by the air. Enjoy seeing one of the world’s most unique landscapes as you get to explore the shorelines, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls that surround Lake Tahoe. For an extra special experience, ask them about their sunset tours that offer stunning views over the lake as the sun sets behind the mountains.
