Wine Country Kids Activities
Wine Country is well known as a playground for adults filled with vineyards and wineries to explore, restaurants to enjoy, and places to shop. But what about the kids? What is there for them to enjoy while you visit? The short answer is there are plenty of activities for you and the kids to enjoy together or separately. Read on to learn about some wonderful Wine Country kids activities that you may want to consider adding to your next vacation or family outing.
Located in Sonoma, CA, Vintage Aircraft Co. provides you and your family the unique opportunity to ride along in World War II-era planes. They offer multiple packages of varying lengths as well as different airplanes but each ride has the option to add on aerobatic maneuvering to add to the thrill of flying. In some of the aircraft, you may even be able to take control to fly once you are at altitude making this a one of our most unique Wine Country kids activities. While there is no official age restriction, children under the age of 10 must fly with an adult and children should be 48” or taller in order to safely fit into the cockpit seat and be able to see their surroundings.
If your kids don’t meet the requirements to fly with the Vintage Aircraft Co. or it is too cold to fly, the Pacific Coast Air Museum features more than 30 restored aircraft. The museum even hosts “Open Cockpit” weekends where you and your kids are permitted to take a closer look at the aircraft and even climb behind the controls of the cockpit of select aircraft. They also host the annual Wings Over Wine Country airshow featuring demonstrations from the F-22 Raptor, Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 Hornet, United States Navy F-18 Super Hornet and many other aerial performers.
Ramekins Children’s Cooking Camp
In the heart of Wine Country, Ramekins is a culinary school, special events venue, and inn that embodies the lifestyle of this fertile region of California. They offer a wide variety of classes ranging from group basic cooking classes to private instruction. The reason we have included it on our list of Wine Country kids activities is because of their Children’s Cooking Camp where young aspiring chefs ages 6-12 have the opportunity to learn from their expert staff while enjoying tasting of all menu items. For older kids, there is even an advanced course that will help them develop an appreciation and love for cooking fine cuisine.
