Fun Family Outings - San Francisco Waterparks
As we head into the hottest days of summer, there is nothing more refreshing than spending some time in the water. For most young kids, tweens, and teenagers, the idea of whipping down a waterslide, riding the waves of a surfing simulator, or even floating along on an endless lazy river. Read on to find out more about some of our favorite San Francisco waterparks and why we love them
Boomerang Bay
Part of California’s Great America Bay Area Theme Park, Boomerang Bay is one of our favorite San Francisco waterparks because it is designed to cater to the whole family no matter the age of your children. For the youngest kids, there are attractions such as Kookaburra Cay (an interactive spray ground), Boomerang Bay (a tropical themed and heated 150,000-gallon lagoon), and Castaway Creek (the area’s longest lazy river). For older kids, there are some exciting waterslides like the Screamin' Wombat (fully enclosed body slide with plenty of twists and turns) and the Down Under Thunder (one of a kind two person tube ride that includes a nearly vertical ascent).
Waterworld
As a dedicated park, Waterworld California has some pretty unique and exciting features to offer you and your family. While you are there, make sure you visit the Breaker Beach Wave Pool for big wave action you can only find here. You’ll also want to check out The Big Kahuna Family Raft Slide to experience the largest slide of its kind in the Bay Area with the whole family. They even have cabanas for rent to allow your family to carve out their own private space within the park.
Silliman Aquatic Center
Located in Newark, CA off the 800 freeway, the Silliman Aquatic Center is a 32,000 square foot Indoor Water Park. The facility includes large water slides, a lazy river, a warm water spa with a capacity for 15 people, an open lap pool, and a children’s activity. The Silliman Aquatic Center made our list as one of our favorite San Francisco waterparks for hosting a party. All the pools are heated so you can be sure that all of your party guests will be comfortable. Since it is an indoor facility, you can be sure your party will go on no matter what the weather is outside.
